Pipeline explodes, evacuations forced in Houston suburb

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A pipeline fire in the Houston suburb of La Porte is causing additional fires and forcing a surrounding neighborhood to evacuate.

KHOU 11 reports the fire broke out around 9:55 a.m. Monday morning.

Video footage shows a car nearby that appears to be damaged and firefighters are having a difficult time getting close enough to the column of flames shooting up from the ground to get water on it.

Officials have ordered people in the Brookglen neighborhood to evacuate.

The cause of the fire is unknown and there is no word on casualties.
