Plans for new San Antonio Missions baseball stadium discussed during city council meeting
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — We’re learning more about the plan to build a new stadium for the San Antonio Missions baseball team.
The proposal shared during a city council meeting Wednesday is a joint effort between the city, Bexar County and the group that owns the team. The money would come from bonds issued by the San Pedro Creek Development Authority, and revenue from the Houston Street Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone.
The Missions would contribute $34 million towards the $160 million dollar project.
Any cost over runs would be the responsibility of the team.
The multi-purpose stadium would be built in the Northwest section of the downtown area with fixed seating of 4,500 and a total capacity of 7,500. It would be owned by the San Pedro Creek Development Authority.
According to the proposal, the stadium would be open in time for opening day, 2028.
