SAPD: Man accused of trying to run over Texas DPS officer arrested
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department says it has arrested a man accused of trying to run over a Texas DPS Officer Monday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. on the Northwest Side.
Officers were trying to stop a red pickup that was suspected of having stolen license plates attached. But investigators say the driver, Chase McDonald, 34, accelerated as he drove toward one of the officers near Interstate 10 and Wurzbach Road.
The officer pulled their weapon and fired at the pickup, but the McDonald kept going.
The officer was not hurt.
McDonald was later found in the stairwell of Easton Luxury Apartments on the Northwest Side. He reportedly tried to run but was apprehended by a K-9 unit.
Police say McDonald has a criminal record including prior vehicle theft charges.
