Police Searching for Man Who Opened Fire Near La Cantera

La Cantera Parkway has reopened between I-10 and Loop 1604 after being closed for a time due to a police investigation.

SAPD is looking in to reports a man fired on passing cars in that area. Police said officers have found a shell casing, after earlier saying casings were found in two different spots.

“We did receive several calls, which gave more validity to this particular situation” SAPD’s Officer Douglas Greene said.

Witnesses describe the shooter as a white or Hispanic man, wearing a tactical vest.

“At this point, we have no victims. We have no vehicles… no one has called in to say their vehicle has been struck by gunfire” Greene said., adding lots of questions remain.

“Was the individual actually shooting at cars? Was he just shooting in the air? That is still being investigated” Greene said.
