Police Officer crashes cruiser while responding to vehicle rollover call

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio Police officer suffered minor injuries after crashing while responding to a wreck on the Northwest side.

It started as a single vehicle rollover crash on the Loop 410 access road at Summit Parkway just after 3:30 A.M. Thursday.

That’s where a driver had rolled over. Three people in the vehicle were able to get out of the overturned vehicle with just minor injuries.

A tow truck was dispatched to the crash and the driver used his truck to block traffic. But a police officer who was rushing to the scene came over a hill and couldn’t stop before slamming into the wrecker.

The roads around the crash scene were blocked for several hours Thursday morning.

Investigators are still looking into why the first vehicle rolled over.
