Police respond to report of man trying to enter Uvalde elementary school

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Uvalde Police Department is releasing more information about a call they received about a man attempting to enter an elementary school.

Police were called to Dalton Elementary School at around 3 P.M. Monday when they were told a male, dressed in black and carrying a duffle bag, was trying to enter the building.

Uvalde Police and Texas State Troopers responded. They searched the campus and found no evidence of anyone trying to get inside.

Officers did locate a teacher who was in the building.

During the investigation, the officers viewed surveillance footage that showed an individual walking along the perimeter of school grounds. That person was not near the campus when officers arrived and there was no footage of them trying to get inside the building.

The Uvalde Police Department released the following statement:

” We are thankful this report was resolved without harming students or staff. We encourage community members, students, parents, and staff to report threats, inappropriate actions, or behaviors they witness immediately. This is one way we can all work together to keep our schools safe.”
