Police searching for vandals who broke into historic churches at San Antonio mission

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Law enforcement is searching for some vandals that attempted to break into multiple historic churches at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park last week.

The National Park Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying the vandals who broke into Mission Concepción and Mission San Juan multiple times between March 12 and March 17.

Officials said the suspects were able to successfully break into San Juan Church and Concepción Convento, and caused  “considerable damage” to the structures. The vandals decided to carve names and dates into the entry door to the Concepción Church when break-in attempts were unsuccessful.

“Information from other visitors is often very helpful to investigators. If you have information that could help identify those responsible for these acts of vandalism, the park asks you to please submit a tip. You don’t have to tell us who you are, but please tell us what you know,” NPS Investigative Services wrote in a social media post last week.

Anyone with information is asked to call or text the tip line at 888-653-0009, email [email protected], or submit online at go.nps.gov/SubmitATip.
