SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A majority of Texas Democrats want to send Beto O’Rourke to Washington D.C.

They just don’t want him in the White House.

That’s according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University.

The survey finds 60-percent of Democrats and voters who lean Democrat want to see O’Rourke challenge Senator John Cornyn.

As far as those who want to see Beto move into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, only 27-percent prefer that he stay in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

O’Rourke was unsuccessful when he tried to unseat Senator Ted Cruz last year .  He’s been struggling to stay competitive in the crowded race to become the Democratic nominee.

John Cornyn has been in the U.S Senate since 2002.
