Popovich still seeking gold with Team U.S.A

UNDATED (AP) – Gregg Popovich is regarded as the NBA’s best.
He is a coach that has won five championships and kept his team near the top of the league for a quarter of a century.
In international basketball, he hasn’t yet found that golden touch.
Popovich has been on the staff of three U.S. teams in the Olympics or world championships and only one reached the medal stand.
He doesn’t think much about that history as he leads the Americans into Tokyo. The San Antonio Spurs coach was an assistant on two U.S. teams that lost three times apiece.
As head coach in 2019, the Americans finished seventh in the Basketball World Cup.
