SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A reminder from the Cibolo Preserve in Kendall County about a prescribed burn taking place Thursday.
Officials say they have alerted surrounding communities that the professionally planned event will take place between 11 A.M. and 2 P.M., and to not be alarmed when they see and smell smoke in the area.
The prescribed burn will cover about 20 acres. The intention is to reduce dead vegetation and thick brush which will cut back on the risk of wildfires, stimulate grass growth and improve the health of the watershed.
Cibolo Preserve is located on City Park Road, near Champion High School and is adjacent to the Cibolo Nature Center campus of the Cibolo Center for Conservation.
A team is on hand to monitor wind and weather conditions to ensure the burn will be conducted safely.
