Priest removed from Helotes church amid sexual misconduct allegations

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A priest accused of sexual misconduct has been removed as pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes.

A letter from Archbishop Gustavo Garcia- Siller was read during the live-streamed Masses last Sunday explaining that Monsignor Carlos Davalos is not allowed to serve in ministries as the investigation continues.

According to the letter, the Archdiocese learned last  month that Davalos allegedly sent sexually inappropriate text messages to an adult parishioner earlier this year. He’s also accused of making inappropriate comments to a minor in 2013. The Bexar County District Attorney is investigating the allegations involving a minor.

“These are the first allegations of sexual misconduct against Msgr. Davalos that I have received, and I would like to publicly acknowledge the courage of the persons involved for bravely coming forward and helping our church and your parish by sharing these personal and painful experiences,” said Garcia-Siller.
