Prison Time for Ex-Military Men Attempting to Have Sex with a Minor

Two former military service members are heading to prison for attempting to have sex with a minor.

Federal prosecutors say Mark Anthony Pazmino , formerly assigned to Joint Base San Antonio-National Security Agency, responded to a personal ad from someone he believed was a 14-year-old female who lived at JBSA-Lackland.

Pazmino stated in chat conversations and recorded phone conversations that he wanted to engage in sexual activity with the girl, who was actually an undercover agent with Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

He was arrested in July of 2016 when he showed up to meet “the girl” at Lackland.

Monday, Senior U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth sentenced Pazmino to 10 years in prison.

In a separate case, Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia last week sentenced 28-year-old Mark Richard Hardin to 10 years in federal prison for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.

The former U.S. Navy medical technician at San Antonio Military Medical Center admitted sending text messages to an individual he believed was a 14-year-old girl in an effort to set up a meeting and have sex with her.

Unbeknownst to Hardin, the 14-year-old was an undercover AFOSI agent. He was arrested in February of 2016.
