SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — You have been hearing more and more about ‘Project Marvel,’ the not-so-secret plan to erect a sports and entertainment district in downtown San Antonio.

On Thursday, the cat was officially let out of the bag.

San Antonio City Council now has to consider a plan detailed by Assistant City Manager Lori Houston that is expected to cost close to $4 billion.

The sales pitch is clear: tourism, events, economic growth.

The proposal would include a mixture of expansions and new construction that would represent the center of the project.

Artist renderings now show what a complete overhaul of the Alamodome would look like, as well as a new arena for the San Antonio Spurs.

KSAT-12 reports some of the construction could begin as early as Spring 2026.
