‘Project Marvel’ coming to light, price tag close to $4 billion
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — You have been hearing more and more about ‘Project Marvel,’ the not-so-secret plan to erect a sports and entertainment district in downtown San Antonio.
On Thursday, the cat was officially let out of the bag.
San Antonio City Council now has to consider a plan detailed by Assistant City Manager Lori Houston that is expected to cost close to $4 billion.
The sales pitch is clear: tourism, events, economic growth.
The proposal would include a mixture of expansions and new construction that would represent the center of the project.
Artist renderings now show what a complete overhaul of the Alamodome would look like, as well as a new arena for the San Antonio Spurs.
KSAT-12 reports some of the construction could begin as early as Spring 2026.
