Red Flag Warning extended to Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — San Antonio will be under another Red Flag Warning by the National Weather Service through Wednesday.

The San Antonio area has been under a Red Flag Warning daily since last week as weather conditions stay favorable for wildfires to start. The conditions contributing to the fire concern include gusting winds, dry air and dry vegetation.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 10 p.m. today and will restart at 8 a.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m.

The NWS reports there is a line of severe thunderstorms forecasted to move into Texas late Tuesday night, but the rain chances will dissipate before morning breaks.

Dry weather and gusty conditions are forecasted through the weekend.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said that state and local resources have responded to 726 wildfires that burned 164,257 acres across the state in March.

Locally in Medina County, the Das Goat fire started Friday after a car fire jumped to brush and spread. Officials said it was 95% contained Tuesday afternoon as nearly 20 state agencies and more than 200 firefighters work to stop the blaze from spreading further.

The Medina County Office of Emergency Management said Tuesday all roadways are reopened, noting the High Mountain Ranch subdivision remains closed to everyone except for residents.
