Report: Bexar County Jail inmate charged with murdering another inmate
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An inmate at the Bexar County Jail is being accused of murdering another inmate and assaulting several others.
KSAT- 12 reports the investigation began Tuesday afternoon when 62-year-old Jose Berrera was found dead in his cell.
Not long after Texas Rangers began investigating Berrera’s death, they found out that other inmates had been assaulted. One of them claimed 28-year-old Anthony McGruder had choked him with a towel and that he witnessed McGruder beat Berrea with a sandal and choked him with a sheet.
When investigators began questioning McGruder, he reportedly admitted to killing another inmate.
McGruder has been charged with Berrera’s murder.
