SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A young boy who lives on San Antonio’s Northeast Side is recovering at home after he was attacked by a dog.

KENS 5 is reporting that the child, who is two-years-old, was out walking with his family November 10 when he was attacked.

While he did survive, recovery will take some time.

He required hundreds of stitches and hours of reconstructive surgery.

The boy was in the Intensive Care Unit for several days before he was transferred to another unit.

He’s home now, but the child still can’t eat solid foods due to the injuries to his face and mouth.

The boy’s father passed away about a year ago, and his mother, who has three other children, hasn’t been able to go to work which is creating some financial hardships for the family.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help them.

As far as the dog who attacked the boy, it remains in quarantine at Animal care Services and the owner has been issued several citations.

The investigation continues.
