UPDATE 4:03 p.m.:

Kendall County sheriff Al Auxier has identified the deceased deputy as Carlos Ramirez, a two year veteran of the sheriff’s office.

Auxier also stated the driver who had been stopped for the traffic violation had also been injured in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

UPDATE 1:56 p.m.:

Two Kendall County sheriff’s deputies were struck this morning on Interstate 10 north of Boerne by a passing vehicle while they were conducting a traffic stop.

Kendall County EMS said one of those deputies were killed in the crash.  The other was severely injured.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A Kendall County sheriff’s deputy was reportedly killed while on a traffic stop on Interstate 10 north of Boerne Tuesday morning.

KENS-TV reports the deputy pulled over a driver at around 8:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway when he was struck by a pickup truck.

The investigation into the crash continues.  The crash has the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 closed at the US 87 Business exit north of the city.
