S.A. Council Says “Yes” to Portland Loo

Downtown San Antonio… meet the Portland Loo.

City Council has said “yes” to plans for building a one-toilet bathroom somewhere Downtown yet to be determined. However, it should be up and running in a matter of weeks.

“It’s about the location of this… and it’s the community that actually takes care of these” said Councilman Roberto Trevino, who has been championing the loo.

“It’s well built. It’s built like a tank” Trevino said, adding “When you talk about quarter-inch stainless steel… in fact, we went to a site in a not so great neighborhood, and we couldn’t find one ding.”

Councilman Mike Gallagher said he heard your questions and complaints on KTSA–particularly over that nearly $100,000 price tag for building the loo.

“The whole reason we’re spending this much money on it now is because in the long run… this will be less than if we were to go a cheaper route” Gallagher said, before casting his “yes” vote.

Councilman Rey Saldana is also a believer.

“I think the long-term maintenance is really where you get your return on that” Saldana said.
