S.A. Gas Prices Continue to Drop

Those prices at San Antonio gas pumps continue an unusual mid spring fall.

New numbers from Gasbuddy.com show the average price per gallon of regular unleaded has fallen by a bout one-cent over the last week, while the nationwide average has fallen by nearly four-cents over the same time frame.

The San Antonio average at $2.19 is largely in line with Austin’s $2.20 per gallon average. to the south, prices are a bit lower with Corpus Christi at $2.12 per gallon and Laredo at $2.13.

“An oversupply of gasoline as refiners ramp up production will continue to exert downward pressure on prices at the pumps” said Gasbuddy’s Don McTeague, who believes prices are poised to drop again over the next week.

Average prices on May 1st in the Alamo City have ranged widely over the past five years, from a low of $1.93 in 2016 to a high of $3.66 in 2012.
