S.A. Jobless Rate Remains at 3.4%

Another strong month for the San Antonio-area jobs picture–with the local unemployment rate unchanged at 3.4% in May.

That despite what have been some up and downs in the oil and gas industry in recent months–which have had an impact on the Eagle Ford Shale–and by extension–on the San Antonio-area job market and economy.

“The diversity of the economy is really what’s driving our unemployment rate to stay very low” said Workforce Solutions Alamo CEO Gail Hathaway.

San Antonio’s jobless rate continues fare much better than both the State and National numbers. The State’s jobless rate was 4.4% for May, the nation was at 4.7%.
