SAFD rescues 3 dogs from storm drain

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Fire Department rescued three dogs from a storm drain over the weekend.

The department said three dogs were stuck in a small storm drain tunnel and were saved through the ingenuity of a handful of firefighters.

SAFD said a civilian helped firefighters out by letting them borrow a leash that was quickly turned into a quick rescue device: a girth hitch.

According to a comment on the department’s Facebook page, a nearby neighbor cooked some hamburgers that were used to lure the dogs into the opening of the storm drain. The dogs were then lifted into the arms of the firefighters and to safety.
