SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar will be back for a third term.

Democrat Salazar held off a challenge by Republican Challenger Nathan Buchanan.

Buchanan is a former Bexar County deputy and Castle Hills Police Officer who received an endorsement from Governor Greg Abbott.

But it wasn’t enough.

With 100% of the precincts reporting, Salazar came away with 57% of the vote compared to nearly 43% for Buchanan.

Salazar came away with 407,252 votes.

Buchanan ended the night with 301,976 votes.
