SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The days of contorting your body to avoid getting hit by scooters as you walk around San Antonio are just about over.

City Council has voted to ban the dockless vehicles from being operated on city sidewalks.

Beginning June 30th, the scooters can only be ridden on streets.

They’ll still be parked at designated spaces on sidewalks.

There’s been some backlash over the two wheeled, electric scooters since they popped up in the city nearly two years ago.

Many citizens think they are a nuisance.  That they create safety hazards for pedestrians, other commuters and the scooter operators.

Anyone caught operating one of the scooters on sidewalks after June 30th could be fined up to 500 dollars.
