San Antonio drivers paying lowest gas prices in Texas, 2nd lowest in the U.S.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The lowest gasoline prices in Texas are in San Antonio where drivers are paying an average of $1.79 for a gallon of regular unleaded.  That’s a 12-cent drop from a week ago.  The average price at the pump in the local metropolitan area is the second lowest in the country, according to the AAA weekend gas watch.

The statewide gas price average in Texas is $1.90 a gallon, which is two cents lower than last week.

“There’s been an increase in regional gasoline stocks, and U.S. demand has fallen by nearly 100,000 barrels a day,”said Josh Zuber with AAA Texas. “Analysts suggest market volatility at the moment is low.”

While the summer season is underway, many drivers haven’t returned to their normal routines as COVID-19 concerns continue.  According to AAA Texas, demand has tapered off from the beginning of the month.
