San Antonio Firefighter dies of COVID-19 complications

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Fire Department is mourning the death of one of its own.

Fire Engineer Joe Faunce died Sunday morning due to complications from COVID-19.

Faunce was 63 years old  and had been with the SAFD since 1989 and had recently been assigned to the Fire Training Division.

The Department released the following statement announcing his death:

“Joe was an extremely kind man and great friend to many in our SAFD family. The SAFD extends our most sincere sympathy and condolences to the Faunce family and want them all to know they will forever be part of our family. Please keep the Faunce family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

Funeral arrangements for Joe are pending and will be announced once available.
