San Antonio Firefighters: One person hospitalized, two homes damaged in early morning fire on West Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — One person is in the hospital after a fire early Tuesday morning.

The San Antonio Fire Department was called to a home in the 2900 block of Tampico Street around 2 a.m. First responders say one of the people living in the home heard popping noises right before the power went out, and they managed to get out safely.

Another person was sent to the hospital to be treated for burns.

Investigators say the fire also spread to a neighboring home, sending the four residents running for safety. None of the neighbors were hurt, but their pet parrot died in the fire.

Firefighters say the home where the fire broke out is a total loss, and a second home has significant damage to the living room area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
