SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Have you been seeing more of those orange and white U-Haul trucks in your neighborhood?

The vehicle rental company has released a list of their top destination cities and San Antonio comes in at number 4.

“People are moving to San Antonio in droves because the job market is strong and the cost of living is low,” stated Sam Molina, U-Haul Company of San Antonio East president. “San Antonio has been called the Military City, and it’s no surprise military families are coming here and staying – or returning to retire in Bexar County.”

San Antonio saw a 2% year-over-year increase in one-way U-Haul truck arrivals in 2018 to remain one of the top five busiest cities for incoming traffic among do-it-yourself movers.

“San Antonio is a hub for medical facilities,” Molina added. “Our universities have top-rated medical schools that are attracting young people from all over the country. The proximity to the Gulf Coast and the Mexican border makes San Antonio a big part of the growth in Texas. U-Haul is constantly adding self-storage rooms and bringing aboard new neighborhood dealers to keep up with the growth.”

Some other Texas cities appeared on the list. They include Houston at number 1, Austin at 7, Dallas comes in at 16, Fort Worth is number 25 and Plano ranking number 34.

The numbers are based on U-Hauls incoming traffic in 2018.
