San Antonio ISD Board selects interim superintendent

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees has selected an interim superintendent.

The board voted Monday to have Dr. Robert Jaklich take over the role on September 29.

Current Superintendent Pedro Martinez announced last week that he was leaving to take the job of CEO for Chicago Public Schools.

Dr. Jaklich comes to SAISD with a decade of experience in leading school districts in Texas.

He’s been superintendent for Victoria ISD and Harlandale ISD.

SAISD Board President Christina Martinez released the following statement:

We believe Dr. Jaklich is the right person to continue leading this district forward. He demonstrates the experience and wisdom to assess situations, resulting in sound decision-making. We are confident the district will continue to thrive under his leadership as the board plans to launch a search for a permanent replacement.”
