San Antonio man headed to prison for sexually assaulting minor family member

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the sexual exploitation of a child.

The Department of Justice handed down the sentence Monday for 39-year-old Daniel Vesa. In addition to the prison time, he was ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution and supervised release for life.

Officials said Vesa coerced the female minor family member into producing sexually explicit videos and “forced the child to engage in sex acts with him over a two-year period.” The girl’s age was not released.

The San Antonio Express-News reports the FBI was tipped off in early 2019 by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report said Vesa was coercing the victim into making and sending at least 9 videos via Facebook messenger and the conversations indicated the two had sex.

Investigators were reportedly able to track the IP address to Vesa’s San Antonio home.

A federal complaint said the victim told investigators Vesa forced her to engage sexually with him for two years and coerced her into making the videos.

Vesa pled guilty to the charge of the production of child pornography in November.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office assisted the FBI in the investigation.
