SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A man in his 30’s is dead after he exchanged gunshots with a San Antonio Police Officer.

Chief William McManus says they were called to the home on Spring Dale Drive just before 3 Monday morning. The residents reported that their son was throwing things and causing a disturbance.

The Officer arrived and found the man in a back bedroom. As the Officer approached the room, the man shot at him with a shotgun.

That’s when the Officer returned fire, striking the man several times.

McManus says the man was brought to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name hasn’t been released. The Officer wasn’t hurt during the incident and he’s on Administrative Duty during the investigation.
