San Antonio police arrest 12-year-old accused of making threats against seven SAISD schools

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 12-year-old has been arrested for making terroristic threats against several San Antonio schools.

Police say they took the child into custody at around 8 p.m. Sunday.

The child is accused of posting a photo of a high-caliber firearms with the names of seven San Antonio ISD schools, along with future dates in September.

The schools that were mentioned in the post are:

Tafolla Middle School

Sarah S. King Elementary School

Idea School

Alonso S. Perales Elementary School

Ramiro P. Estrada Achievement

Rhodes Middle School

Abraham Kazen Middle School

The picture made the rounds on social media and police began investigating, leading them to the 12-year-old.

SAISD released a statement that the threats aren’t credible as no weapons were found in the child’s home.

“We are aware of online activity circulating among schools in local school districts, including SAISD, that has caused concern. Our SAISD Police Department investigated this activity in collaboration with area law enforcement, including SAPD, and at this time, it is determined not to be a credible threat.”

The child has been charged with seven counts of terroristic threats-public fear serious bodily injury.

The district says they will increase police presence at their campuses this week.

Police have not released the child’s name or gender.
