San Antonio police arrest church shooting suspect

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – San Antonio police have arrested a suspect accused of wounding a man and a 6-year-old boy at an East Side church event Sunday.

Police Chief William McManus warned Sunday that the suspect would be arrested “sooner rather than later,” and 20-year-old Ronald Robinson was taken into custody Monday near downtown.  His arrest was part of a joint operation between the TAG unit, East SAFFE and U.S.  Marshals.

A man, his girlfriend and their six-year-old son were ambushed as they drove up to Greater Faith Institutional Church on Martin Luther King Drive Sunday afternoon.   The driver was critically wounded and the boy was shot in the shoulder.  McManus believes the shooting was gang related.
