San Antonio police chief, Bexar County sheriff to participate in town hall on mass shootings
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The San Antonio police chief and Bexar County sheriff will be panelists tonight at the second town hall hosted by councilman Manny Pelaez concerning mass shootings and gun violence.
In addition to Chief William McManus and Sheriff Javier Salazar, tonight’s installment focusing on public readiness and de-escalation and prevention strategies will feature San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood and UTSA Police Chief Gerald Lewis.
It’s scheduled from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the Central Library downtown on Soledad Street. Parking is free with a validated ticket for up to three hours at the Central Library garage.
The third and final installment will be a community forum emphasizing steps that the public and governing bodies can take to reduce the risks of gun violence and its impact on our communities. Panelists will include policymakers, law enforcement professionals and gun rights advocates.
