San Antonio Police: Girl in critical condition after father accidentally shoots her during altercation with neighbor

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 7-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was accidentally shot by her father during an altercation with a neighbor.

FOX 29 reports it happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday on the far West Side.

Officers were called to a home on Bratton Drive where a watch party for a boxing match had been going on. But at some point, one of the homeowner’s guests, a next-door neighbor, began arguing with a woman.

The homeowner reportedly tried to intervene and told the neighbor to leave. Police were told the neighbor refused to leave and that’s when the homeowner grabbed his gun.

When the homeowner fired at the neighbor, the bullet grazed the man’s shoulder, then hit the homeowner’s daughter in the chest. The girl was in the front yard and the homeowner says he didn’t see her and didn’t know she was outside.

She was rushed to a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

Police haven’t released any names and haven’t said if the girl’s father is facing any charges.
