San Antonio Police: Hours-long stand-off with man accused of threatening landscapers, assaulting woman ends
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A standoff that lasted several hours Monday ended when a man accused of assaulting a woman and shooting a gun in the air surrendered to police.
FOX 29 reports it started Monday morning at an apartment complex on Dietrich Road near North WW White when a man reportedly pulled a machete and threatened some landscapers.
A few hours later, a woman at the apartment complex encountered the man who is said to have grabbed her by the hair, spat on her and threw her to the ground.
Some neighbors saw what was happening and tried to intervene by throwing rocks at the man.
That’s when the man pulled a gun and started shooting in the air. The neighbors backed off and the man ran into his apartment.
Officers arrived and began trying to convince the man to come outside.
He finally surrendered at around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
His name hasn’t been released but police say he is in his 20’s and is being charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
