San Antonio Police: Man accidentally shoots himself, dies while taking out trash at San Antonio apartment complex

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man is dead after accidentally shooting himself while taking out the trash.

KSAT-12 is reporting that it happened just before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 12400 block of Starcrest Drive.

Police tell KSAT that the victim, reported to be in his 50’s or 60’s, was walking to the dumpster at his apartment complex when he slipped and fell.

The man was carrying his gun with him and when he hit the ground, the gun fired, hitting the man in the chest.

He managed to get back up but collapsed a short later. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died soon after arrival.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
