San Antonio Police: Man arrested after leading officers on a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 27 year-old man is in custody after leading San Antonio police on a high speed chase.

Police say the man had tried to steal a car from a woman at a gas station but she refused to let him take her car.

That’s when he turned his attention to another driver, this time a man in his 70’s who was near the gas pumps.

The thief managed to get away with that man’s Chevy Avalanche and when police spotted him a short time later, the thief refused to stop.

Officers chased the man for about 20 minutes, the pursuit ending near Culebra and Navidad.

It was there that the man was tased because officers believed he was reaching for a weapon.

Police say they took the man in custody on charges of aggravated robbery and evading in a vehicle.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
