San Antonio Police: Off-duty officer helps bring an end to alleged porch pirates crime spree

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A pair of suspected porch pirates won’t be picking packages from portals any longer, and it’s thanks to an off-duty San Antonio Police Officer.

The end of the alleged crime spree came when the officer saw the pair on his doorbell camera pilfering from his front porch.

He reported the thefts and provided a description of the vehicle the pair was driving.

Officers were able to locate the car. They found hundreds of pieces of mail, medications, ID’s and credit cards in the vehicle. None of the mail or packages belonged to the pair.

Police say they arrested 36 year-old Elizabeth Elizalde and 31 year-old Bryan Salinas on charges of mail theft and possession of identifying information.

Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
