San Antonio police officer arrested, charged with sexual assault

BEXAR COUNTY, Tex. (KTSA News) — A San Antonio police officer was arrested for sexual assault that happened over the weekend.

San Antonio police say Humberto Zuniga is an 18-year veteran with the police department and had been in a relationship with a woman for the past few months.

The victim called police to a home on San Antonio’s south side Saturday because Zuniga had sex with her without her consent.  She told police the only managed to stop him by grabbing a knife and cutting his arm.

Police interviewed Zuniga and then arrested him on a sexual assault charge.

Zuniga was placed on administrative leave until further notice.  The investigation continues.
