San Antonio Police Officer arrested, suspended after assaulting significant other

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio police officer has ended up on the wrong side of the law.

Officer Philip Ortiz Jr. has been arrested after an altercation in which he physically assaulted his significant other.

During the altercation, a duty weapon assigned to Ortiz was fired.  Nobody was hurt but the 5 year SAPD officer was arrested on the South side at around 1:30 A.M. Sunday.

He’s been charged with Assault Bodily Injury – Family Violence.

Ortiz has also been suspended without pay.
