SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio police officer was suspended late Monday after police arrested him for assaulting another driver and driving while intoxicated.

Dezi Rios was reportedly involved in a car accident that he fled from. The other driver, a 61-year-old man, followed Rios and confronted him during which officials said Rios assaulted the man.

Rios was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated failure to stop and provide information. Officials said Rios may face additional charges for the assault following an investigation.

Rios was suspended without pay while a criminal and administrative investigation is underway. He has been an officer with the San Antonio Police Department for 14 years but has been on an extended military leave since July 29, 2019.
