San Antonio Police: Two arrested following car jacking, high-speed chase on Northeast Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Two men are behind bars after stealing a car, then leading police on a high speed chase.

It happened at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when San Antonio police got the call from the 1500 block of Austin Highway.

The caller reported that he was waiting in his Ford Explorer as his family was shopping. That’s when two men approached him, held up a gun and stole his SUV.

The two men sped off in the stolen Ford which officers spotted as it was exiting an apartment complex on Harry Wurzbach Road.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped up.

The chase lasted until the crooks crashed into another vehicle at FM 1518 and Lower Seguin Road in Schertz. The occupants of that vehicle were not hurt.

Police say the two men then jumped out of the stolen Ford and began running away. One of them pointed a gun at the officers who then opened fire. They didn’t hit the man who kept running.

Officers were eventually able to catch the men. They were both arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

No names have been released.
