SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A custody dispute over a 10-year-old girl escalated to gunfire over the weekend.

San Antonio police say at around 8 p.m. Saturday, the child’s mother got into an argument with the girl’s grandfather on Royston Avenue.

The mother put the child in a car and took off while the grandfather jumped in his own vehicle and took off after them.

According to police, when they reached the 3500 block of South Zarzamora, the grandfather pulled a gun and started shooting at the mother’s car.

The girl and another child who were in the car were not hurt, but her mother and the mother’s boyfriend were hit.

Their injuries are being called “non-life threatening” but they were both brought to the hospital, where they are recovering from their injuries.

The grandfather was detained for questioning but police haven’t said what he will be charged with.

This is a developing story and KTSA News will provide updates if more information is released.
