San Antonio Police: Woman shot after pointing gun at officers on the Northwest Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A woman is in the hospital after she was shot by San Antonio police officers Thursday afternoon.

Chief William McManus says they were called to the area near Babcock and Roanoke at around 5:45 p.m. where a woman was reported to be walking up and down the street  waving a gun around.

McManus says when officers arrived and approached, she pointed her gun at them. One of the officers fired at the woman, striking her in the abdomen. She was taken to an area hospital where she underwent surgery.

There has been no update on her condition.

The name of the woman has yet to be released, but SAPD says she is 39 years old. Unclear is why she pointed the gun at police.

This is a developing story and KTSA News will post updates as they become available.

The shooting was one of two officer involved shootings in San Antonio Thursday.
