SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A change of ownership at the San Antonio Event Center has left The Salvation Army scrambling ahead of the holiday season, the local non-profit said this week.

The Angel Tree Program has been providing local children with holiday cheer for more than 40 years.

The Salvation Army said the annual program, which benefits more than 7,000 kids each year, was housed at the San Antonio Event Center on the west side of the city for the past several years.

The organization used the facility as a preparation and distribution hub for the Angel Tree Toy Shop.

Officials said they are searching for a facility that is at least 55,000 square feet that is climate controlled that is available for November and December.

The Salvation Army said that a donated space “would be ideal,” but can pay for space if necessary.
