San Antonio TV anchor stepping down after doctors remove baseball-size tumor

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A San Antonio TV news anchor who’s been battling health issues is stepping down. Jessica Headley has announced she’ll anchor her last newscast on Fox News at 9 Tuesday night.

” I have been battling some ongoing health issues , including a baseball-size benign tumor that was recently removed. I expect to make a full recovery very soon, yet I will be taking some months off to heal per doctor’s suggestions,” she said Thursday night.

Headley also announced she’s getting married in a few weeks to “a wonderful man I met here in San Antonio who serves our country and is pursuing some exciting opportunities.” She’s stepping away from her TV life to recover and “to see where this next stage of life takes us.”

Headley, who’s the main anchor on Fox News at 9, also has worked as Fox News morning anchor and traffic reporter for Fox San Antonio and News 4 San Antonio.

“It’s been an honor to serve San Antonio for the past seven years. So many of you have embraced me, supported me, and lived through the ups and downs of some very important years of my life,” said Headley.

She released a book this week titled “Wild Dog Montana: A Texas Rescue Dog’s Tale.” It’s her story about adopting a rescue dog named Montana here in San Antonio, and half of the proceeds will benefit pet rescue and foster organizations. During her time on local TV, Headley helped pets get adopted through the weekly segment “Pets on Fox Wednesdays.”

“Only God knows where our journey will take us in the next year,” said Headley.
