SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The 8th annual Armed Forced River Parade floats through downtown San Antonio Saturday evening.

Maggie Thompson with the San Antonio River Walk Association tells KTSA the parade starts at 6 and it’s free.

“Since San Antonio is Military City U.S.A, we love being able to honor our service men and women.”

The parade features 25 floats with the theme of “Salute Our Heroes.”

“Each float with have a hero theme. Whether it’s wounded heroes, heroes of the Alamo. All the floats represent a different hero theme.”

The parade officially starts at 6 and floats down a 2 and a half mile route on the San Antonio river.

There is a chance of rain in the forecast but Thompson says they will still have the parade if we do get some showers.

“The only way we would cancel is if there is high wind a lightning. Anything that would create dangerous conditions for the float riders or the public.”
