SAPD: Arrest made in connection to fatal shooting at Northwest Side Sonic Drive-In
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is announcing the arrest of a suspect they believe is connected to a fatal shooting at a Sonic Drive-In restaurant.
KSAT-12 reports U.S. Marshals arrested Joshua Albert Joseph in the 1300 block of Patricia, but he is not believed to be the actual shooter.
Investigators say Joseph was with two women who went to the fast food restaurant in the 5500 block of Babcock Road on July 7. SAPD says the three tried to pay for their order with fake money, but manager Daniel Shrewsbury caught on to the plan and then pointed out the problem.
Police say the group eventually paid with real money before taking some change from a cup on the way out. Detectives say Shrewsbury then went outside to get a photo of the car and license plate.
An SAPD spokeswoman says there was an argument between Shrewsbury and Joseph, which included a threat to shoot the manager. At that point, one of the women in the car shot Shrewsbury, who was killed.
The two additional suspects remain at large.
This is a developing story and KTSA News will give more details as soon as possible.
