SAPD: Child critical after rollover crash during race on Southeast Side, driver arrrested
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 12-year-old girl is now fighting for her life at a hospital after she was thrown from a car during a rollover crash on the Southeast Side Sunday night.
KSAT-12 reports an 18-year-old man was racing in the area of I-37 and Southeast Military Drive around 11 p.m. At one point, police say he lost control while racing another car before redirecting onto a grassy median. The child was thrown from the car and ended up on top of an SUV parked at an apartment complex.
SAPD says the driver and the child were not wearing seatbelts.
The girl was rushed to the hospital, and the teenager was arrested and charged with one count of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury.
This is a developing story and KTSA News will give more details when possible.
