SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – The San Antonio Police Department asks that you join them today in honoring the legacies of two fallen officers who have given life through organ donation.

SAPD is teaming up with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance to celebrate #DonateLifeEcho honoring the memory of officers Bobby Deckard and Miguel Moreno. Both were registered organ donors.

“Even though it was a tragedy that these officers lost their lives in the line of duty, their service to humanity continued through their life-giving decision to be organ donors,” says a statement from SAPD.

If you would like to register as an organ donor, you can swing by a Stop and Swipe event from 11a.m. to 3pm today at the Northside Patrol Substation at 13030 Jones Maltsberger where Deckard worked. The second will be at the Central Patrol Sub on 515 South Frio where Moreno served.  A brief Texas Organ Sharing Alliance flag-raising ceremony will be held an hour before each event.

It won’t take long to register as an organ donor. You can drive by or walk up and let TOSA swipe your Texas Driver License or Texas ID. You can cool off with a free paleta.
